FRC WBV Attendees & Courses 2012
Since the beginning of January this year attendees on WBV MANAGER courses have included MCA Seafarer Health & Safety (the department that wrote MCA MGN 436 - Guidance on Mitigation Against the Effects of Shocks & Impacts on Small Vessels. New October 2011), MCA policy & coding, MCA surveyors, Marine Accident & Investigation Branch, UK Border Agency, UK Police, UK Marine Pilots Association, UK MOD, Netherlands Royal Marines, Netherlands Navy, Port of London Authority (including master mariners & pilots), RYA Instructors, British Marine Federation (including their technical department), International Institute of Marine Surveying, ship security, charter companies and various high performance boat manufacturers.
In February FRC were invited to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency in Belfast to run a course for 50 people including Northern Ireland Executive Health & Safety, senior managers, scientific officers, dive team and boat operators. Running WBV MANAGER on day 1 then WBV CREW on day 2 worked well and the organisation was very pleased with the ‘top to bottom’ engagement that this gave them across the organisation in a fast, effective manner. FRC have also just returned from running WBV courses in Canada for the navy and specialist organisations.
The courses have been very well received at all levels and the feedback has been superb from commanders, Health & Safety executives and boat operators alike. Overall we believe that these FRC courses will improve seafarer safety for all the organisations that adopt the WBV Awareness Courses.
